Our Centering group got a tour of the Family Birthing Center at Swedish Ballard last night where we will be delivering little Moe. It is a really nice facility and I envision a very comfortable delivery there. Only once in a blue moon do they get very busy and we will need to move rooms, but otherwise we will be in the same room from the time we check-in, through labor and delivery and then post-partum. Among other things, each room has it's own bathroom with tub/shower, a TV, iPod docking station, DVD and VHS player (in case I want to watch "Saved by the Bell" reruns), WiFi, and a bed for dad. The delivery bed is extra fancy and can be adjusted in numerous ways to help with delivery and allow for different positions. There is a jacuzzi tub available (also with iPod docking station) if being in there would make me more comfortable. So we're excited and can see the days counting down even more!
My vitals were checked last night too. Weight gain is normal, blood pressure is still good, iron level is excellent, glucose level is good, size of the baby is right where it should be... all is on track. She is also pretty sure that the baby is in the desired head-down position, but she should be able to tell better in a couple weeks.
Joe and I are heading off to the San Juans tomorrow for a short weekend getaway. We thought it would be a good idea to get some relaxation time before we get busy with the holidays and last-minute baby preparation. Massages on Saturday, a visit to the Whale Museum, and probably a couple nice dinners together. Aunt Nancy and Kara are going to stay with Hobbes, who we will miss, but will also be glad to get a short break from ;)
